CDL Penalties in Georgia
As a CDL driver, you can lose your CDL for offenses committed in a commercial vehicle (CMV) or a non-commercial vehicle. I can help you with any traffic offense, from speeding to driving under the influence (DUI), in a CMV or noncommercial vehicle.
When driving a CMV, the standards for DUI are lower: .04 blood alcohol content or higher. Your license will be suspended for one year if you do not appeal the charge within the ten-day period.
Your CDL will be suspended for one year if you are convicted of certain offenses, including:
• DUI while driving a CMV or noncommercial vehicle
• Refusing a blood alcohol test while driving a CMV or noncommercial vehicle
• Hit and run in a CMV or noncommercial vehicle
• Committing a felony using a motor vehicle
• Driving a CMV while your CDL is suspended
If you are convicted a second time for these offenses, your CDL will be disqualified for life.
You will face CDL suspension for 60 days if you are convicted of two or more serious traffic violations in three years, such as reckless driving or speeding 15 miles per hour or more over the limit.
